Ringed by national parkland and the basalt boulders of the point, Burleigh Heads is one of the most beautiful and mystical point breaks in the world and home to the Burleigh Heads Boardriders Club.

The inaugural club president, Huey McMaster, reigned over the point with a genuine soul arch. Original members included
Brian Curtain, Allan Sykes, Greg Saal, Archie and Billy Hoogervorst.

“Huey was the most organised. We didn’t have a secretary or treasurer – Huey would organise it all, and we’d just go surfing all day.”
Billy Kingston – Junior surfer
